The purpose of this book is to introduce educational management and leadership in terms of theory and practice. Major references have been drawn particularly from the practice of educational management and leadership. Information in this book originates from journal articles, books and other scholarly documents on leadership and management. The contents are also derived from my experience as a lecturer and author in the same areas. Like other learning institutions, a school has its objectives, tasks to be performed, methods of performing these tasks, personnel to perform these tasks and a coordinating body. All offices in public educational organizations have legal authority that is vested in certain members who are guided by a set of management procedures, policies, rules and regulations. In order to appreciate the interaction between and among the various elements of an educational institution, it is imperative to grasp certain theories and practices of management and leadership. Major classical, neoclassical and contemporary management and leadership theories have been discussed. Also current practical scenarios have been exemplary presented to demonstrate practicability.
