The Theological Unity of Obadiah

Obadiah with only twenty-one verses has the distinction of being the shortest in the Hebrew Scriptures. However the questions it raises are in inverse proportion to its length. Reading it holistically and not atomistically continues to be one of its major issues. My research proposes a fresh persuasive approach in reading it holistically. It vigorously argues for reading the book as an entity and not as a collection of independent units as some scholars propose. In its rigorous investigation this research has uncovered a new historical audience, done an unprecedented in-depth exploration of the parallels between Obadiah and passages in Jeremiah, its relationship with the so-called “The Twelve”, and offers a new translation for greater clarification.
