Water samples were collected to classification algae from various governorates of Iraq. The plant consists of 12 stations in the city of Baghdad within the environment of the Tigris River and 9 stations in the city of Ramadi within the environment of Euphrates River and 10 stations within the environment of the southern Iraq marshes divided into three governorates (Maysan , Nasiriyah and Basrah), The total number of study sites was 31 sites located in most of the Iraqi environments of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and the environment of the southern Iraq marshes, identified 314 species of algae belonging to the genus (section represented section (Chlorophyta,Chrysophyta , Cyanophyta , Dinophyta , Bacillariophyta , Euglenophyta ,and Rhodophyta), in addition to the existence of new species have been classified in the Iraqi aquatic environment for the first time As shown in the table of the mark (*). There are some species of algae are identified within the aquatic environment of more than one or most of the areas referred to as algae (Ankistrodesmus , Chlamydomonas , Cosmarium , Mougeotia, Microspora , Monoraphidium , Oocystis, Oedogonium, Pediastrum , Scenedesmus ).
