This work is for scholars, tutors and lecturers who work in a non-Anglophone context. As the number of English-medium institutions of higher learning grows, so too will the number of students needing to learn how to submit written work for assessment in an acceptable academic style. For many students this type of writing can be challenging, especially for those students without experience of studying, researching and/or residing in an English-speaking geographical context. This research answers the question, to what extent is it possible to administer academic writing support at an English-medium university, located in an non-Anglophone context, in the same way that one is administered in an Anglophone context? It also provides tutors and lecturers with suggestions on how best to help students learn how to motivate themselves to perform their best in a higher education setting, learning through the medium of the English language.
