A thin film refers to a layer or multiple layers of material with a thickness ranging from nanometers (referred to as monolayers) to several micrometers. It is known as a multilayer structure when multiple thin films are stacked together. Thin films are deposited onto a substrate for various purposes, including substrate protection, altering its visual appearance for decorative purposes, modifying the substrate's optical or electrical properties, and more. The process of thin film deposition holds significant importance in numerous applications. It involves applying a thin layer of any substance onto a surface, be it a substrate or already deposited layers. Depending on the process's dominant physical or chemical nature, deposition techniques can be broadly categorized into two groups. This presentation will discuss the most widely used techniques in this field.
