Merceology, as a science of multilateral research of goods, stands out for its impetuous development and affirmation, contributing alongside management and marketing to the increase of people's competence as producers, traders or consumers of goods.Its main purpose is not limited to the simple knowledge of the goods, but aims to support managerial efforts to anticipate and respond as best as possible to the wishes of consumers and, thereby, to make the company's approach to the market more efficient.The present work proposes a multilateral approach to goods, which, along with the fundamental notions and general properties of goods, also deepens more complex and current aspects related to: the object of study of merceology, general properties of goods, control and verification of goods quality, attestation, approval and guarantee of the products and services quality, as well as the preservation of goods quality.
