This book is based on a dissertation research project and thesis writing that lasted from 2004 to 2009. It is an ethnographic attempt to understand Turkey’s European Union negotiations process from they eyes of senior Turkish journalists. Justice and Development Party (AKP) is still in power. Its power base is stronger, and it defeated major traditional elites, including those who oppose it in the journalistic field and in the mean time, the party changed its orientation towards Middle East. The whole media ownership structure has also changed since this research was completed. What did not change is the role of Turkish journalism as political actors and their journalistic patterns.
