This dissertation is a history of Mexican Chicago, exploring the economic, social/cultural, political and educational conditions. There are first-hand accounts of events of the time between 1970-2001 by those who were actively involved and played roles in the changes the city underwent. These events and changes that Chicago underwent impacted the education system at the federal level. The country is still dealing with problems of class, poverty and race.
