This book is a case study that describes possibilities of Bohdalec re-development, one of Prague's large undervalued and neglected area. The aim of the work is to propose a way of new urbanization that would combine qualities of both living in the dense compact city and in suburbia. These qualities seem to be crucial to keep urban population in the city, because these qualities can attract middle class, that would otherwise leave for suburbia. The design propose neighborhood for 20 000 residents on 165 hectares of land that might be nowadays called as periphery. The proposal emphasize urban diversity with busy avenue, squares, parks, pleasant residential streets and private yards inside blocks. Building typology differs from large-scale multi-storey buildings to low-rise row houses. The study area has good conditions for such a concept: located on the compact city edge with a great accessibility of the city center on one side and close to parks and open landscape on the other. I believe such a neighborhood would offer new high standard of living while still keeping efficiency of a dense city.
