Anthocleista djalonensis is a plant used for the treatment of various human ailments such as Malaria, venereal diseases, constipation, leprosy, oedema, scrotal elephantiasis and thrush. Ethanol, hexane, ethylacetate and methanol were used to obtain extracts from the root part. Crude extracts in the above solvents were screened phytochemically, for antimicrobial activity and crude extracts were used against the following bacterial pathogens: Staphylococcus aureus; Escherichia coli; Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The hexane, ethylacetate extracts were mixed and was made candidate for column chromatography. The purity of the compounds were ascertained by thin layer chromatography, with different solvents at different polarities.
