Physical inactivity among children is a growing concern, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a movement concept designed to enhance motor competence in elementary school children through structured physical activities. A quasi-experimental study design was employed, involving an intervention group (n = 62) and a control group (n = 65). The intervention consisted of a 20-week movement program implemented in an all-day elementary school setting. Motor skills were assessed using the German Motor Skills Test (DMT) and the MoMo Activity Questionnaire. Results showed significant improvements in five out of six measured motor skills in the intervention group (p < .001), with notable differences compared to the control group. However, no significant changes in body mass index (BMI) were observed. These findings highlight the effectiveness of structured movement programs in fostering motor competence and underline the necessity of integrating such interventions into school curricula to promote physical activity and overall health in children.
