My aim has been to write a sound and accessible information. Information that is concise and perspicuous as well as substantive and challenging.This book provides first hand, eyewitness accounts of a number of attempts to influence policy and practice, some successful, others still continuing, as well as a parallel series of synoptic overviews of progress and problems in various areas of service provision.My interpretative remarks in this book are indebted to works by many scholars, especially those mentioned in the references at the end of each chapter.
