In this book you can find to what extent the Gottlieb (1992) model of translation strategies for subtitling is applicable to Persian-English subtitling of one of the most famous Iranian TV series 'MADARE-SEFR DAREJEH”. Gottlieb’s (1992) typology of subtitling strategies includes Transfer, Imitation, Transcription, Expansion, Paraphrase, Dislocation, Condensation, Deletion, Decimation and Resignation. 'Transfer' was the most frequent applied translation strategy that conveyed the full expression, and constituted the adequate rendering of neutral discourse which indicated that Iranian subtitlers did their best in transferring the dialogues of the series into English as understandable and natural as possible. Moreover, 'Paraphrase' formed the second translation strategies in this study.
