Throughout history, many scientists have dedicated their lives to better understanding the functioning of living organisms and how they relate to each other and the environment. Biology is the study of all living things, including this insect and the plant it sits on. As the name of biology suggests, biology deals with the study of living organisms or organisms that were once alive. The word biology is derived from two Greek words "bios" (meaning life) and "logos" (meaning study). In general, biologists study the structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, and distribution of living organisms.
